"In love” feels better than “love” so that’s why it’s easier to do. “In love” is easy since it requires little of us, except to feel good. “Love” on the other hand can be challenging because it asks us to get over ourselves. Since "in love” demands little from us, it feels good to make “forever” promises when we’re “there”, but to “love” when “in love” leaves is the ultimate test of who and what we really are. We all have defects in our capacity to love, so when “in love” leaves, we can leave with it, or we can stay, and face the "growing pains" of maturing as lovers. Learning to love is difficult, but here’s the good news! If we’re determined to grow in “love” when “in love” leaves, eventually, “in love” returns, deeper and sweeter than ever before. This is because love is a lot like nature, complete with distinct seasons, although they’re not quite as predictable. Ours is learning to accept, respect, and enjoy the flow, and here is an encouragement to help you along the way. In loving relationships, as with nature, the sun always shines again, the ice begins to melt, and “in love” returns as new life, more beautiful than ever before. If we nurture that hope, it will help us to “stay the course” during the darker seasons. Remember, real “love” stays when “in love” leaves.
